MSE Note: Great video mclarkie. There's more info on how to use the forum in our New to Forum? guide

Back to your post...

Seems a shame to let this go to waste, so here is the video guide I made for the other thread, which has disappeared ;)

The same technique of highlighting text and and then clicking an editing tool can be applied to all the edit buttons, for example highlight a portion of text then press B to make the text bold, or press quote to add quote tags.

This how to embed youtube videos, using bb tags and the code from the URL on youtube

    Top stuff,mclarkie

I know it took me a while to get a grip of what to do & it needed a bit of help from others.

The video would have really helped.

What's the chance of making a video guide to show how to place a link in an image from Photobucket.

For instance if I get the Daily Telegraph logo in my PB account is there a way to then adapt that so it holds a comp link?

    Cheers if you can :-)

I don't have a photo bucket account I'm afraid, I use the webspace provided by Virgin media for pics and stuff.

Ah yeah, insert the image in your post, then highlight it, by a single click, and then click the insert link button as you would with text.

mclarkie - you absolute star! Wicked video :) I always believed a picture is worth a thousand words, think how much value the moving pictures have :D

It's late now, but I'll get this into the Guide by the weekend (latest).
Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out

Just a warning about using images with links.

If the user has "images off" in USER CP then all they see is the URL of the image. They can not click on it to get to the target webpage. My advice is not to use it if possible, but if you do then add a standard clicky or the full URL as well, otherwise the thread will get bumped with "link not working for me" and "try this link" posts.

See an example HERE noting that posters #15 & #17 who had "images off" could not see the buttons, and when they clicked on them they got the wrong URL. I had to add the full URL's at the end of post #14 at a later date for these people.

I've added the video with a bit of explanatory text into the Guide under an existing point as it seemed to fit the best there:

Posting Comps, scroll down to "9 How do I do a 'clicky' instead of putting the full URL?"

Hope this is what you were after :)
