Morrisons Big Christmas Bonus is back! £40 for your Christmas Shop!

I had a flyer through the letterbox with Morrisons offers and a coupon for £3 off a £20 shop and a coupon for £5 off a £40 shop.

Big changes in the store, they've got the Whole Foods Market-style veg misters for example. Could only find pre-packed organic courgettes 2 for 1.29 - nothing else, not even carrots or mushrooms.

Although Morrisons HQ assured me that Morrisons has organic meat in every store, I've tried two and have yet to see it.

Did pick up a couple of big proper fillets of wild Alaskan salmon yellow-stickered to 4.55 but that isn't exactly cheap, especially when ASDA's fish counter does 2 fillets of organic salmon for £4

Nabbed 2 litre Yeo Valley organic whole milk YS for 39p but couldn't find organic cream. Did pick up Yeo Valley organic half fat creme fraiche 200g for 87p (95p in ASDA, Tesco, Waitrose, Ocado and 77p in Sainsburys).

I managed to scrape the £40 by OH picking up Fast & Furious 1-6 DVD box set for £28 and by stocking up on the offer on Johnson's Baby Shampoo (500ml size 1.60).

Checkout guy gave me a Big Christmas Bonus coupon without explaining it so it was only when I read this thread that I twigged and found it.

I don't think Morrisons has enough of what I need to buy for our health (I have diabetes, OH gluten intolerance) to be able to spend £40 per week for five weeks to get £25.

I don't do a regular weekly shop and visit a wide selection of supermarkets randomly depending on what I need (there are certain things that I like from certain supermarkets, or if there is a particular good offer somewhere), so I almost never spend £40 in one place.

However, I have now had 2 of these vouchers and Morrisons are also doing 'money off next time' vouchers that work out at about 5% off (£2 off if you spend £40). As I know I wouldn't get all 9 without massively changing my shopping habits, I sell them on ebay for about a fiver a go.

Why on earth would you do that? Spend well over £400 at Morrisons and pay well over £360. Even with a low overspend of only £5 you will be paying £410 for £450 of produce at their prices. A miserable 8.8% discount.

Do you really think you will not be able to buy the same stuff for £410 elsewhere? Either shop at Morrisons in the first place or don't bother.

Because we usually spend £40 (at tesco mostly) anyway and with the £40 off at christmas we will be buying £40 of Christmas food from Morrisons (and obviously not paying anything) and then do £20 of frozen at farmfoods and then we won't need to do a shop until the end of january (obviously top ups of milk).


We live week to week so for us, it works out advantageous.

Tesco are giving out £5 off a £40 spend vouchers and ,this week, I got a £5 off £30 spend. Also, as it's Reward voucher time, there are lots of money off coupons sent with these, too.

I the post today I received money off vouchers for Sainsburys , so Asda are probably offering the same. All three of these don't require weeks of commitment to one store, which suits me, as I like to change around.

I suppose you also get a good test of using a different supermarket. I do most of my shopping at a combination of Morrisons/Aldi/Asda and on the rare occasion that I go into a Tesco, I can't believe how expensive it is and how poor quality the own brand stuff is, especially compared to Aldi and Morrisons. And that's before you get on to the fake 'half price' deals, which are nowhere near as common in Morrisons and non-existent in Aldi.

is it basically you'll get a free £40 shop?
or do you need to spend like £80 and youll get £40 off that?

£40 off your shopping. E.g. spend £40 and hand over your vouchers and £40 will be deducted off your shopping. No minimum spend.

I got another Morries flyer through the door so when I see my mother we can go to her local store (way bigger than mine) and both get £3 off a £20 shop or haggle over who'll get £5 off a £40 shop if either of us manage that. Quorn mince is half price at 1.49 for 500g and my veggie mother wants to stock up.

My philosophy is if it isn't costing extra money to get there, and if I can get offers and buy things at a cheaper price than I would normally pay then it's worth doing so I'm happy with the extra £3 or £5 off.

But I wouldn't go to a store in order to spend hundreds to get £40 back. Unless every item is the same price or cheaper then I may not be saving £40 by the time I totalled it (and er I would)
