The pokemon games are extremely deep turn based JRPGs. I don't get why people always dismiss it as "for kids." Yes, the design is cute and there's nothing unsuitable for kids, but have you ever looked at the depths of bulbapedia? The game is insanely complex at a competitive level.

We live in a society where image is very important and the image Nintendo generally have is that they're for kids so many people will not look further than that which is their loss as many of the games are extremely good. What's particularly clever about Pokemon games is that while they do have a ridiculous depth and complexity if you really want to get the best out of the game, you don't have to making it enjoyable to whatever level you want to take the game.
I haven't played a pokemon game for a while but fancy giving this one a go once I get my 3DS XL back, I lent it to my brother as he was desperate to play the game and the game arrived before the 3DS he ordered did.
