With regards to grocery spending, how well stocked are your freezer and store cupboards? Could you try and use up as much as possible this month and put the money you save towards overpaying one of your debts, the one with the highest APR? This means in future months even if you went back to paying your usual amount more would come off the balance as your interest would be lower.0

They provide you with a lease car, with which to do your job, but you have to pay for the fuel :huh:0 -
Also please be mindful that Australia is just going into its depression. It was bouyed up by the mining boom up until about 6 months ago, but now is going the other way. Alot of new zealanders (it is where i live) are now coming back here, because they have been laid off.
So whilst you maybe ok being a nurse, your OH might have a bigger problem getting work.
You will need every penny of 20000 to set up in this part of the world. taking house contents cost us 6000 alone (worth it as a lot of furniture/white goods etc are VERY expensive in this part of the world). I know you have done research, but it can still all be a big shock when you get over here.I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

The cupboards are fairly well stocked. Will try to put together some meal plans...is there anything for inspiration on here?
Yup Bedsit Bob...fuel and a monthly sum...I can claim my parking ticket stubs back though.
Thanks for the advice Chevalier...it's always useful to hear from people who are there! My hubby's job is on the second skills list, so also still in demand. We won't be shipping any furniture (it would cost us more than the furniture's worth!)
We also have a few friends over there who are keeping us posted regarding jobs/accommodation etc, cost of emigrating etc.

Having to pay for the fuel, to do your job, is ridiculous.
