Gitdog is needing a couple of hours a day and I am well out of practice due to mutt being so wobbly on her pins at the end.
I need waterproof walking shoes that last (not boots) - I've just had a karrimor pair and regatta pair that have both worn out in less than 2 months. I am heavy footed but this is ridiculous. Ideally for under £30. Preferably less. I don't mind paying more if I know they'll last but the karrimor were £25 and I've been very disappointed in how quickly the sole has worn down.
Walking is mainly done on pavements at the mo which probably doesn't help.
Gloves - gitdog pulling like a steam train means that come the winter my usual fleecy ones won't give the grip I need. I don't like leather gloves or mittens, but was wondering if riding gloves might let me hang on to the lead without being too bulky.
Waterproof hat with brim, (not leather as it'll get eaten) for less than £15.
Looks far less important than practicality! Suggestions welcomed.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I don't have a dog (got a cat) but do a lot of walking. I would say buy the best brand you can afford but go for something from last season so you aren't paying top price. You mention your previous boots wore down quickly but I'm not surprised at £25, that's not a criticism but generally speaking you get what you pay for. In the long run you would be better at investing in a better quality pair. Are there any outlet shopping centres near you? or look out for any sale bargains, check out amazon aswell, although returns can be a pain so try on instore first. Unfortunately at this time of year you are less likely to get bargain walking boots/shoes but you never know. I've had Caterpillar and Timberland boots (bought out of season in the sale) for example that lasted for years with a lot of use.0

If your walking mainly on pavements then a good pair of leather shoes, which can be resoled when needed, should do the trick.
Oh and if your dog is pulling to much put him/her on a shorter lead.
As to a hat, what about a waxed cap?
If you don't find joy in the snow,
remember you'll have less joy in your life
...but still have the same amount of snow!0 -
I walk alot. I got a pair of Soloman Trek shoes in the sale for £60 and am still wearing them more than 2 years later (they are my main footwear). Before those I had Merrels which I got in the sale for £40 and they lasted about 2 years. I know a few men who wear Merrels (can get them on sale from Amazon quite often) and they last. Before them I had Peter Storm that cost me £20 in sale, and they lasted just over a year.0
