City Centre Apartments

  • Hi - as mentioned in a previous post I would seriously recommend renting for a few months before investing that much money in a city flat.

I moved into a city centre flat in Leeds a couple of years ago and it was a lovely flat with views over the canal, but in the flat opposite was a guy who worked nights and slammed his front door at around 3am when he got in from work. Next to my living room was a young family who's kids would cry, scream and throw things at the wall at all times of day and night and worst of all was in the flat joined onto my bedroom where 3 young men lived together and had music blaring out every weekend until god knows what time in the morning. I paid £1200 a year service charge but the security guards did b*gger all when you ask them to come around to investigate the noise.

Fortunately I was only renting. If I had bought the flat (I think it was worth circa £150k) then I would have been so depressed. Obviously your milage may vary but it's a lot of money to find out that it isn't the life for you.
