Enjoy the next stage of your journey Maureen, the way you want to, never worry about other peoples opinions of you.0

I am really pleased for you Maureen and I hope this will be the start of a much happier time in your life. I admire you for feeling so good and being so strong. I only wish I had been able to be so positive when my decree absolute came through, and I was the one who chose to divorce my ex husband. There is no right or wrong way to approach such a significant event in life, and how you do it is no indication of how you once felt toward a partner. The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0

I got my divorce decree absolute this week.
It feels absolutely wonderful. Life is full of possibilities and I feel better than I have done for my entire adult life. I really don't know now why I put up with it for so very long.
So, for those stuck in unhappy marriages, there is light at the end of the tunnel and you CAN change your life.
For those who have just started on the divorce/seperation journey and life seems awful, it WILL get better.
No doubt some will flame me for not taking my marriage seriously but those who have followed my posts will know the full story so I will ignore the haters...
What an inspirational post OP. My parents split last week after mum put up with dad's behaviour for so long, even so she feels lost and now wonders if she's done the right thing.
I know she has and will support her through it, in 6 months she won't know herself l keep telling her.
No-one knows what happens in a marriage apart from those concerned.
I wish you the very best of luck xxxx

Congratulations!!
I got my Absolute in Feb whilst recovering from a major op for a condition I was diagnosed with three months before he started an affair... after promising me he'd stand by me (after all, we'd been together 17 years and have two children together)... I'd never felt so elated.
Here's to the rest of our lives! So happy for you.
