Finally own a house!

After 3 months of stress and worry we have finally taken possession of our property, although we had an unexpected final hurdle.

The last 3 weeks have been particularly stressful, with my solicitor telling me I would get the contracts to sign 'tomorrow' about 3 times. I finally got them on Monday morning. Because of all their delays we had to send our deposit by CHAPs to ensure it was there in time for exchange, so their delays cost me £30.

We were supposed to exchange Thursday, but in the end there was some unspecified reason that it couldnt take place until Friday, with completion an hour or so later.

The final hurdle was turning up at the estate agents to find out that they had lost the keys, and then having to wait several hours until a locksmith was able to come and change the locks.

Only other issue is that the electrics are in a much worse state than I had thought, and I have had to turn the power off until I can get an electrician in to rewire the house...

Glad you're happy that you own your own home now. Hope the electrics don't cost too much.

When did you make your last mortgage payment? And did it feel good when you did?
