Repairing CCJ Damage

Hi all I have a couple of questions.

Once the 6 years on a CCJ is up what will my credit file look like? Will it improve once it is off or will it just make it easier to improve myself?

Also for some reason the date on my CCJ is wrong. My 6 years is nearly up but they seem to have the date almost two years later on my credit file (I have only just discovered this as am looking into buy a house in the next year or so and have started looking into my credit report etc. to ensure I can succeed) how do I fix this or can't I?

And I would also like any tips on improving my credit file without taking out any new credit to improve my chances of gaining a mortgage. I have been very well behaved for the last few years but unfortunately I am still trying to fix younger mistakes. I currently have a credit card and overdraught both in credit. How could I use these to improve my rating?

Thank you

Is the judgement date wrong on all 3 CRAs, or just one?

  • I have only looked at Equifax. Do I need to check all of them? Won't they all have the same information on as big an aspect as a CCJ?

Well, it's a case of seeing where the error is? If it's just Equifax's screw up, then the other 2 should have the correct date.

However, if the other 2 also have the same incorrect date, then that means that either the court or Registry Trust have misreported the date. If that is the case then you need them to sort it first, then pass on the correct info to all the CRAs.

The data is sourced from Registry Trust so they are the people to check with as the CRA's purchase the data from them directly. As noted earlier, RT take the data from the Court Records and unlikely to be incorrect as there is little manual intervention.
