Iam about to have an oak staircase installed. The oak is unfinished can anyone recommend a wax, oil or varnish. I would like to keep it looking pale & natural if possible.
Is this something we could do ourselves or do we need to call in the professionals?

Danish Oil or any similar oil. Talk to someone knowledgeable to get ideas of final colours of the different oils.
If the wood needs a final "sanding" make sure that you do not use conventional wire wool.0
