applying for tax disc refund

When applying for a refund for a tax disc (going to sell car for scrap) would we get the full amount back we paid for each full remaining month?
It has been suggested to us by a dealer that we would only get £8 back per full month left, evening though the tax cost £175 and there are 6 full months left on it so I assumed we would get £87.49.

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Many thanks both of you: that's what I thought but the dealer trying to buy the car off me was adamant I would only get £8 a month regardless. His dishonesty means I won't be selling through him, I'd rather give it away for a pittance elsewhere:D
