I don't think I've seen this letter, what does it actually say?0

My experience is if you ask over the weekend for a payment to go on the Monday it goes by faster payment straight away although the online statement does not have the payment reference number until the Monday. Now if I do not want the payment to go out until the Monday I process on the previous Thursday or Friday."Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0

Actually I am experiencing delays with Nationwide Faster Payments few times. I send money from Barclays to Nationwide for example on Saturday, Barclays shows that the transaction is marked on next working day (Monday), but the money are not in my Nationwide account. Sometimes they arrive on Sunday afternoon, sometimes on Monday. So clearly there is some glitch with Faster Payments some times.0

No glitch. Faster Payments are expected to arrive by the end of next business day. It is perfectly normal that sometimes payments don't arrive immediately, or within 2 hours, over a weekend because that is when system maintenance usually takes place.0 -
NatWest Faster Payments are the work of Satan. One recent FP I made was between two NatWest accounts, both owned by me. I made the FP Friday evening and it appeared in the creditor account... Tuesday morning. Prior to that I made one on Tue afternoon and it didn't arrive until Thu morning. The last one I made took a similar two full working days.0

Transfers between two NatWest accounts do not use FPS, so you're putting the blame on the wrong system.0 -

Now we know you are talking about paying your Nat West credit card from your current account.
Can you look at the credit card statement again and see if the FP are dated the same day they were sent?
I say this because they do say it can be 2 working days until FP appear on your credit card account but they will be dated the day they are received.

I had a look but the CC payments don't go back far enough so I don't know if the date was backdated. Not sure that backdating is any sort of solution, either. Either the money's there to use or it's not, and as the available balance didn't alter, it wasn't.
I did check my last FP and that was from another bank' savings account to NatWest. That was made 10am on a Tue and appeared at 5pm on the Wed. Not NatWest's fault (probably) but the upshot is I've made around a dozen FP transfers, mostly from NatWest, and the average time taken is around two working days with only one (from memory) taking less than 24 hours.0
