Nationwide current account without switching?

Im going to be holidaying in USA this summer and ive read the articel about the best card to use overseas. So i want to get a nationwide Flexaccount and use their debt card as it has no loading/fees with spending/cash withdrawl.

Ive visted the website and it seems the only way to create an account is by switching current accounts... but there must be a way just to 'open an account' (im a bit of a n00b when it comes to banking).

So how can i open a nationwide current account but keep my existing current accounts? (ie the nationwide will be a 2nd account and i will pay into it b4 i go on holiday and use that money).

Maybe i have to go instore to do this?

Thanks for your help!

Jake

You can open an account without switching.

You can apply online here withough switching: http://www.nationwide.co.uk/current_account/apply.htm or go in branch and pick up an application form.

I went to my local branch and it was all sorted in under an hour. After about a year of running it as my 'holiday' account. I switched my existing current account over to them using their switch service.

I hope you mean debit card.. ;)

No problem in doing what you want to do, have just done it myself, just feed the NW Account from your existing Bank Account..sorted.

Even if you do sign up to switch accounts it's up to you whether you close your old current account. It depends what part of the form you sign.

BTW the old bank can close your account if it's dormant.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)
