Have a new laptop & it uses windows 8.
I often change things with out meaning to & I have currently 'lost' my headers & footers.
It is not f11 to bring them back.
Any ideas on how to bring them back?
Thanks.

Try 'escape' or just hovering your mouse at the top centre of the screen? The address bar and others should slide down when you hover.0

What browser do you use?
If Internet Explorer, go to Settings (top right) > File > Full Screen.
F11 should toggle between desktop and full screen though. Does your keyboard have a function key lock button? If so, that needs to be on for F keys to work.
Edit: you're probably talking about the metro browser.. no idea about that, sorry! What will your verse be?

There are two versions of Internet Explorer in Windows 8. There is a "Desktop" version which looks more like you'd expect, and there is the "Metro" version which has no headers or footers (and also doesn't have options like "Settings" at the top right of the screen which mattye mentioned). I suspect you've ended up in the Metro version.
To get to the Desktop version, first go to the windows Start screen. (Hit the "Windows" key with the flag symbol, usually near "Alt" at the bottom left of a keyboard)
Then, on the start screen, right-click on the Internet Explorer "tile", and see if there's an option called "Pin to Taskbar"; if so then click on it. (If it already says "Unpin from Taskbar" then skip this step and press Esc).
Now click on the Desktop tile on the Start screen, and you should find an internet explorer icon (it's a blue "e") on the Taskbar near the bottom left of the screen. Use this to get to Internet Explorer in a more normal view.0 -
Two versions of each app - a tech support nightmare

I had the same trouble so now use the desktop version - much better. I press the windows key and the letter d to take me to a familiar older looking windows version.0

Right click on an empty part of the screen to show the tabs and address bar. If you're on a touch screen, swipe up from the bottom, or if you have a touchpad, swipe up from the bottom of thatSquirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
