Resold item and now NPB is sending money!

I recently sold an item and after weeks of waiting and receiving no communication after the original "I am sending payment" email I reported him to Ebay as a NPB. This prompted him to send an email saying he would send the cheque. A week or so later still no cheque in the post and I still couldn't get any replies to emails so I clicked the "I no longer want to wait for buyer" which means Ebay will let me relist my item, refund me my final value fee and issue the buyer with a NPB strike.
I relisted the item and it sold today (I am posting it tomorrow because the buyer has paid by Paypal).
Ebay must have sent the original buyer an email saying he has been issued a NPB strike and he has sent an email today saying he has put the cheque in the post and, even though its Sunday, I should receive it Tuesday or Wednesday! He wants me to remove the NPB strike once I receive the payment!
Well I think this is a cheek seeing as I have been waiting for his cheque since before Easter and he also did not answer any emails. Also, as I have now resold the item what do I do if he does actually send the cheque this time? Post it back and say thanks but no thanks? I don't want to risk bad feedback because I haven't done that many transactions on Ebay and it would damage my feedback score. Im not sure what happens now in this sort of case.

If I was you i'd probably email him and tell him where to go in the politest way possible, explain that the NPB strike stands as you have been waiting for a long time... Did he not even offer an explaination etc?? Tell him you'll gladly rip up his cheque if you both agree to put this issue behind you....??Official DFW Nerd 210

There has been no explanation or apology or anything! He emailed ebay to say he was sending the cheque after I reported him as a NPB, hasn't replied to my emails and today is the first time he has emailed me directly to say the cheque is on its way.0

Just rip the cheque up and i very much doubt you'll hear from him again.... what do people expect huh!??Official DFW Nerd 210

Easy one.... Send the goods to the "new buyer" and do nothing at all just yet.
Wait for cheque to arrive, tear into eight sections, Arrange neatly on table as per a jigsaw puzzle, Take pic, Email buyer the pic advising.....
"NPB Alert Filed... Transaction Complete... See Attached"

LOL! Do you think you could take a pic of the cheque and offer a unique auction to the NPB to 'buy it now' - you could have two rates, one just to get the cheque back and one to get the NPB strike cancelled

don't go to war with someone over this, you sold your item you get your fees, but sending e-mails telling where to go will just wind the buyer and yourself up.
Recently people don't even send me payment until i send an NPB; sad but true (and quite annoying! as i can't do it for seven days) i figure people want to hang on to their money as long as they can (don't we all?)
oh and remember, he/she can still leave you a negWhere the !!!! has the Shrug gone!
just doesn't cut it... :huh::think::huh: and these don't come close0 -

i frown on fun (unless i'm involved, then i don't mind it so much;) )
i would just say you didn't reply to any of my messages and after 7 days elapsed i sold it to the next highest bidder. so i am banking your check and will accept your money as a token of good will (the aforementioned is a joke; see i like fun too
)
no, do the 1st part then tear up the check and say you both agreed to cancel.Where the !!!! has the Shrug gone!

I just don't want the negative. Im a bit wary of trying to put addresses or urls in my feedback in order to have it removed too. Why do people bid if they don't want the item!0
