iPhone Photos to TV

My friend has a Samsung S3 phone and is able to 'sent' her photos to a smart TV (not Apple). She actually found this out by mistake while looking at her photos.
The information that I have read mentions cables. Could someone please let me know if it is possible with an iPhone without hooking up with a cable or using Apple TV. Many thanks.

Samsung phones can send images to Samsung TVs, to do it from an Apple device, you'll need Apple TV, or some other way for the iPhone images to be received and then sent to the TV.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -
"Apple TV" is a somewhat misleading name. What you effectively buy for £100 is a small set top box, about the size of a Mac mini, that connects to your TV. You can then send photos/videos and play music from any of your iDevices on your TV. The Apple TV also needs to be connected to the local network for this to work.
You can also download films from iTunes directly to watch on your TV.
They look like this:
Apple don't sell actual TVs (yet).
You might know all this already, just wanted to make sure
What will your verse be?

Not just Samsung TV's, it should work with any DNLA device, my S3 works with my Toshiba and also my Xbox. You get a little TV icon on your phone screen when it picks up a compatible device it can display the media on.0 -
Thanks for replies.
My friend send a photo to my Panasonic TV by mistake.
I agree the name could be misleading.
I had thought about getting Apple TV in the future. We have it at work and it seems good. I will just have to persuade Android loving family.0
