what family of should live on for year?

does any one know how much money does family of 4 need to earn in London according to government?

lets say they spend around 50k per year to keep person in prison. so family of 4 should have 200k a year to have roof food clothing etc.
just basic things as in prison :)
any way I just want to find out what annual income is calculated by those who"uses bread maker"

  • I don't think you can use the £50k that it supposedly costs to keep someone in prison as a guide to how much free members of society need. The £50k presumably also covers round-the-clock security, the cost of warders and other personnel etc etc.
Sorry I can't help as to how living needs are calculated. There must be a Government website somewhere that will show the info you want.

I agree, it's impossible to compare the cost of keeping someone in prison to the living costs of each person in a family of four unless you're claiming that you have special needs regarding security and the cost of providing that security. However, I did find an interesting website.

That minimum income website is fascinating. Sadly we're about £15k below what it says, and I had to knock off one of the kids because it only goes up to 4 children. Makes me wonder just what kind of life we'd have if we really did have that much money.... :)

the bread maker seems to be the deal breaker here.

OMG, it reckons we need nearly three times our income.

    Minimum. Income. :rotfl:

The bread maker thing I assume was David Cameron not knowing the price of a loaf of bread because he had a bread maker. Some kind of political point.

It also means Cameron hasn't got a clue the price of things never needs to worry about whether to pay for heating or buy a sliced loaf. There is one thing for certain he is loaf :)

  • I've always wondered what the fascination with members of parliment needing to know the price of this or that.

Personally I would prefer a Prime Minister who knows how policy affects the country on a national & international level compared to a Prime Minister who knows the price of every single item thinkable in the local supermarket.
  • I totally agree, PuzzledDave.
My OH is very astute with money (to the point of miserliness) but as I do the shopping (within any budgetary limits of course) and he does absolutely none of it he too wouldn't have a clue about the cost of a loaf of supermarket bread (or a pint of milk for that matter). And he's anything but the stereotypical 'posh boy' so derided by Nadine Dorries!!!!
