Price for a new bathroom

Hi All,

Just after some advice to help me do my budgeting! I would like to change half a bedroom into a ensuite for my master bedroom. So can anyone give me an idea how much I should be estimating to put aside for a new bathroom suite?

I would need EVERYTHING doing! Including putting up a stud wall to split the second bedroom, knocking a door from the master bed room and then the entire bathroom installation and plumbing. The boiler is on the same floor but as it is a bedroom I'm converting I have no idea about plumbing!

I have B&Q coming out next week for a design and installation quote but I am aware they can be a bit pricey on installation costs.

The bathroom would be about 7ft x 11ft.

Thanks!

I would double that figure of £5k, maybe even more. I know it depends on what quality fittings/tiles etc you have, but to actually build an en-suite from scratch - with all the piping/plumbing and stud wall - it would cost much more than £5k.

We've just had our en-suite completely refurbished including knocking a wall down and adding new stud walls. We went for very high spec fixtures & fittings and bought in all the labour. Total cost: £7.5k.

is the wall between the 2 room a stud wall or a block wall?

I assume you are going to get all the building control sign offs and electrical sign offs as well...

and without knowing the building fabric of the house we cant tell if the joists run the "right" way for the wastes to join an existing stack.

if you get somone in to do everything, from design to building regs to tiling to plastering, to electrics, £5k is too light.

I am redoing my en-suite, replacing a very outdated (20 years plus) room. So walls, soil pipe, etc is already there, just stripped back to plaster. I am currently at £1,500 just for materials alone. Fitting most of it myself, and getting a 'handy man' to assist with some plastering / plumbing. I expect it to cost £2,000 in total.
