They don't work by calendar month.

I've had to leave a diary note to draw £500 out of Santander after the 2nd credit -then transfer back in early in January. I'll lose about £1 in interest ..but better than losing the lot!!:)
Take the money out the day you pay it back in. Or the day before, allowing for their payment-blocking habits.

But it really ought to just work for anybody who gets a monthly salary paid in, without anybody having to watch dates and jump through hoops.

But a system based on rigid dates won't, at least, not unless the customer is allowed to choose the statement date.to keep it well away from payday. Which at present means you have to be careful when you open the account.

I realised that it wasn't a "calendar month" in the strict sense of the word!
The 2nd monthly credit for Dec.will occur on 23rd.The reason for then drawing the cash out earlier than strictly necessary is because this is all happening over the Xmas/NY period -and I want to make sure it's showing in the other current acc. before paying back to Santander after 1st January( my acc.was opened on 25th of the month!!)
pqrdef-I accept that at any other time of the year, a couple of days would suffice!!
