Question: Brasses have been used to decorate heavy horse harness since the late 1700s although it wasn’t until the 1870s that they became fashionable and farmers and wagoners could afford them. What’s the name of the brass fixed to the headband of the bridle between the horses ears?

Are we allowed to post answers?
I've searched and think it's: browband
Just highlight - (incase we can't post) xDecember Wins: £300 worth of board games, £500 Tesco Vouchers Best Win in 2023: £500 Tesco Vouchers0 -
Nelie I don't think your answer is right

A browband is what they are all called, even if they don't have brass attached I think it is cincher but may not be correct! (again highlight as Nelie said!)Thanks to all posters0 -
Wikipedia talks about "[f]ace-pieces, swingers, and hame-plates"... Hame-plates don't look to be the right shape. Face-pieces seems like a good possibility. But I'll leave you to google "swingers" yourself.0

Thank you for entering our competition. Unfortunately brow band is not the correct answer. Have another go if you wish. Good luck!

Bridle drop: Attaches to the side of the browband where a bridle rosette would be located, to the center of the browband, or to the crown of the headstall.
Found this not sure if right though

Not face piece either. Had an email to say that's the wrong answer and to try again.0

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horse_brass
The most popular size is 3 × 3½ inches of flat brass with a hanger by which the brass is threaded onto a horse harness strap, known as a Martingale.
In England many of these items of harness found their way into country public houses as the era of the heavy horse declined, and are still associated today as a pub decoration.
worth another try ???
