Mental block with Media Player

I am required to download some bird song, using WMP. Some tracks require to be renamed and genre changed etc. No matter what I try I cannot get into an edit mode. I have tried right clicking, followed the instructions to edit within play etc etc and nothing is working.

My gut feeling is to ditch WMP and use another programme. Any suggestions?

    Two options...
    1. iTunes is very easy for mass updating (or single track updating)
    2. Using windows explorer, go to the folder containing the tracks, right click on each one, go to Properties, then choose the Detail tab. In there you can make the changes too. It's not quick, but it works.
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?
