Insolvency and Rescue Awards 2013

Read this with a wry smile.

I have been accused of perhaps putting a little too much faith in ‘customer reviews’ and testimonials etc.

Well, for anyone considering a DMP or IVA, perhaps these award winners are worth a look.

This Year's winner of 'Personal Insolvency Practitioner of the Year' – Melanie Giles, is undoubtedly long overdue this accolade, as backed up with hundreds of positive customer reviews.

Award winners in other categories include Grant Thornton & Stepchange. Worth a mention, considering the amount of stick they get on this and other forums (not leaset from me on the odd occasion!!!

Mind you, with my firm (Mitchell Farrar) making the list of finalists:

…one has to suggest that ‘Customer Service’ cannot be one of the judging criteria!!!

Reassuring however that, despite being up-front fee-chargers (Debt Advisory Line – Sister Company to Mitchell Farrar), and the slating that such companies get on MSE, they must be recognised at a high level within the industry of being competent at managing your insolvency. Would just be nice if they could return phone calls/answer emails in a timely fashion.

of course worth noting who the judges are (ie all companies that benefit in some way from insolvency). Im sure Kim Jong Un wins leader of the year every year in North Korea. Not saying that any of the winners don't deserve it just the people voting may have a different idea of what is best than the insolvents.

    Hi

    Interesting 'Gallery'

    I agree with debtinfo

Also looking at some of the organisations on the list it could be strongly argued that there is fine line now between some of the 'so called' charities and the profit making business's, very fine line indeed.

Hard for some these 'so called' charities to sling the mud at the fee chargers, hey! they are sat feasting at the same tables aren't they?

Mind you competition is set to intensify between them all:)

Just for the record, Melanie Giles was a cert for me and all being equal at the end of the day it is hard to deny that this particular award was not deserved.

Please note, none of my posts should be taken as promoting any individual IP or company.

My honest opinions and balance on this with a touch of innocent humour as always and I will take the flak if and when it comes, but try not to come at me all at once ya all:)

...So these awards are worth diddly squat? (as far as a customer is concerned). Yeah, I can see where you are coming from.

Suppose it's the same with 'industry awards' in any other sector.

This is why I put more stock in customer feedback, rather than awards like this.

Case in point, I chose Debt Advisory Line on the basis that they had won - several years in a row in fact.

OK I've consequently ended up with MF, who are no doubt thoroughly competent with everything, but lacking as far as some customers are concerned.

    Hi

Well it has to congratulations to the winners, anything else from 'our side' would not be professional as they say and rightly so in my world.

Melanie could do nothing else but win as anything less would have been a travesty in my opinion.

I must admit seeing CAP on there really did open my eyes, Stepchange did not by the way, but CAP???

To be honest I have not heard much of the CAP insolvency Team (if I have read this right) does anybody have any information on them, how they work, refer, any referral fees etc - I have had a quick look on their site and cannot seem to find much.

Fingers itching to tap the keys eh CAP :)

Open forums me ducks, oh yeah, those lonely open forums as they can sometimes be!

Just my curiosity and take guys if you are looking in and feel free to contribute after all your name is up there on the list so this has to be fair comment, doesn't it:)

I don't know UTMNII - just look what you have started here

Oops! 'The Real CAB' Boot Boys are back in town again:)
  • Do SC even do much in terms of personal insolvency as I thought they farmed most of their work out to GT, correct me if I am wrong. To be honest aren't most of these industry awards a bit of self patting on the back and nepotism apart from Melanie Giles finally winning an award and in my own opinion that has taken far to long as it seems she is not afraid to ruffle the odd feathers sometimes with her contributions on certain forums.

Did anyone else notice the irony of LLoyds Banking Group winning Business Rescue of the Year when they struggled to run their own business a few years ago.

Wisdom comes from experience. Experience is often a result of lack of wisdom.

    Hi

Basically this is the profit makers bash, lets not get too carried away:)

Their night really, which is fair enough.... and a few others it would seem!

You never know they might one day risk it and engage the debate (we will be waiting however long it takes:) and the book is filling up nicely.

Just my views and innocent independent, impartial humour
