No sound on Youtube?

I expect this is something simple but I have no sound on youtube.

My speakers work fine, other sites play ok it's just youtube.

Each vid has a small x beside the sound icon but clicking on this does nothing and I can't find out how to change it.

It was ok yesterday and no-one has changed anything.

I'm stumped.

I don't have a youtube account btw so I'm not logged in when this happens.

Interestingly, I've just checked a Youtube video and I also had a small X alongside the sound icon. However, click just to the right of the X and a slider should appear that you can drag with the mouse to turn up the volume.

strangely enough, when you posted this one of the girls at work had turned their volume down in YouTube as well and though they'd lost it.

Not just me then? I thought something was afoot, ALL my YouTube vids today are loading muted.

Exactly the same, all good except youtube. Don't view YT often, so unsure when this came about???
