Can anyone here please tell me if I can use this loft ladder as an extension ladder? (without fitting it to the hatch)?

It looks like a good price for a extension ladder...
I need it to access the loft, but my hatch is in a very bad state

I don't think you can as the top section needs to be fixed or the whole thing will collapse down as there's no locking mechanism to hold it extended.0

When we had our loft ladder put in the company offered to rebuild our hatch as they wanted to put in a bigger one to accommodate a larger ladder it seemed quite easy and not expensive, we declined and settled for the smaller one which fitted our hatch. You could get the hatch rebuilt and then use that ladder..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

I have a small metal two section ladder(about 5/6 rungs on each section) and when I need to access the loft bring it in house ,slide it up a couple of rungs and thats it- in the loft. I have thought over the years of having a proper loft ladder fitted but weighing up costs against the slight inconvenience of a trip to the shed no thanks.0

You can use any ladders. I use step ladders. (I have used a stool on a table but I would not advise it. 2 AM, water leak!) Just make sure they are strong and stable enough and have an assistant nearby to help.0
