Corian worktops

Options
Afternoon all was after a bit of advice to see where I stand

Recently I have had a Corian worktop fitted into a new kitchen and it is the worst decision I have ever made.

The fitter or as they call it fabricator was a company called one design

The cost of the product was initially £3k

When fitted I noticed 'white spotting' around the up stands and one design asked the supplier a company called CDUK ltd to send out a technician to evaluate.

I was then told by CDUK that the particular colour I chose should not be used on up stands in a kitchen despite me receiving samples and a downloaded PDF to that effect!

The technician told me that the product in his opinion was faulty and they would contact the manufacturers Du Pont based in France.

Du Pont having looked at pictures only and have blamed the fabricator and CDUK have now said they are not willing to do anything further to rectify the problem despite initially saying they will replace it and compensate

To make matters worse one design have this week gone into liquidation leaving me with a half finished work top and nobody to talk to!

Any ideas what I can do and were I can go to?

Cheers

Chris

Did you pay for the worktop by credit card or other type of finance? If so then the credit card or finance company have joint liability with the supplier and you can take the same action against them that you can against the supplier. Look up Section 75 claims.

You don't even need to have paid the whole amount on the credit card. Any amount will do. All that matters is that the transaction was for more than £100.

How did you come to choose the company onedesign? Are they a recommended fitter by DuPont?
I've read that if onedesign aren't an approved fabricator-and I don't think they are-your 10 year guarentee is not valid, perhaps this is why DuPont changed their mind.

If you look at the bottom cduk site there are a number of a number of trade associations, contact them and see if they've got an arbitration service.
Ikbbi for example do livechat, but Your contract is with onedesign.

Sorry, I just read the bit onedesign going into liquidation,
