Thank you for the advice. I decided to do a bit more googling before giving up and discovered quite a few people have this problem. It is to do with our BT home hub being on automatic (channel hopping when there is interference). I've changed the hub to be on channel 11 as someone suggested and it is now working. Do like the look of the Canon for the future though

we have HP 3000 and its fab we run pc and netbook and ipad to it, if you look on the hp website i think there is some help on adding stuff to your ipad to make it print. plus always helps to download drivers from HP rather than the disc as they will be more upto date. hth
