My nan always used to buy me a box for Christmas, and I never had the heart to tell her I thought they tasted like... nothing. The slug is a good description tho :j:hello: The grass is not greener, it just looks that way from a distance :hello:0 -
Right. Found an area with signal. Have gone 40 posts to a page and opened up a few to read at my leisure
Will see what's what with you all later

Just skimmed through thinking of debtfree and rudeboy today and anyone else who's having a hard time of it.
Sada spennymoor (northeast) only had 2 boxes of Guylian left at half two. And the chocolate Lindt teddy worked as a trigger at 1.30.0 -

I know what you mean, but I think often we don't know what's going on in other people's lives. It's a rare person in my experience who doesn't have something major to deal with at some time or other.
What I struggle with sometimes are the spells when things are going all right or well for my family and not for those around us. We are currently going through a good spell, but the last few years previously were really shi77y. The way I've come to see it is that it's like the wheel of fortune, we each have our own wheel turning, and at any given point some of us will be up and some of us will be down. It's no good feeling guilty about being at a good point if your friends aren't, it's actually better that way because then the current fortunate ones can stay strong and help the ones in difficulty.
Hope that makes sense.
I think years ago all of our family were pretty poor so it was somewhat easier as we could all empathise with each other. I remember my SIL telling us how she had no money for bus fare and was walking to town in the pouring rain with her pushchair and then got even more soaked when a driver went through a puddle. Somehow we managed to see the funny side of things like that as similar things were happening to all of us.
But while we have got poorer, all of the others are now pretty well off - some due to inheritance, others due to landing really well paid jobs. Its hard as they seem to have forgotten what it was like and get fed up when we tell them we can't afford to do things with them. Well we get fed up saying it as well. It has been going on for a long time now.
I think it is definitely time for our wheel of fortune to spin in a different direction.0 -

I read of lots of people on here experiencing serious illness either themselves or their family. Fortunately I've been very lucky healthwise but seem to have a very difficult financial situation to deal with (basically started up a franchise which was a con and lost about £60K ) which I really cannot see ever being resolved. Others seem to sail through life with everything falling into place, no health worries, no financial problems, good jobs.
Sometimes I find it overwhelming especially when one more thing goes wrong. Camel...back.
Sorry if this is a bit deep for an MSE thread but I feel quite depressed today and then when I read of others battling ill health I feel guilty for worrying about just money. Just felt I had to get that off my chest!
You did say there was something bothering you late last night. I am so sorry about your situation but pleased you have finally got it off your chest.
We all have different situations to bear. Yes unfortunately there is a great deal of ill health but we all found this thread to help us financially (initially).
We are hear to help and support everyone with whatever problem they have so if you need to spill or rant please do so.
I know what you are trying to explain. Whatever problems each of us face, no one's problems are less or more important to them.
Stick around and post more so we can get to know you better. Always some light relief in the evenings and music and bilge at the weekends.
If you need to rant then please do as sometimes just putting it down in words can help.
I know this thread has not only helped me save money but also become more aware of prices and able to handle what money I have better.
I also finally feel I belong somewhere which is such a comfort.
