My two year old was invited to have it too.
She won't be though, just like any other immunizations.0 -

Not everybody "susceptible" to flu will be we'll enough to have the vaccine. Are you always this inward facing?
Of course I realise this is part of all vaccines but the other vaccines she has had also protect her from potentially fatal disease.
Until I hear that many children her age has died or had major complications from flu I wont be giving it to her.
Anyone susceptible to flu she may meet I will meet too, I haven't been offered it so the risk stays the same.
This isn't inward thinking it's logical thinking.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -

Didn't you once run a nursery? Did all of the parents stay with their children at the nursery all day with them?
Most children have access to some sort of nursery/childcare setting. Lets say little Jonny takes the fly virus to his nursery, and having coughed and spluttered everywhere, over the toys and other children, little Martha catches the virus and takes it home, where her Granny is immune-compromised by the cancer treatment she's been having. Flu could finish her off.
I'm not for immunisation of toddlers unnecessarily, but there's a proportion of society that do nothing proactive to prevent the spread of disease. Unfortunately this means that all public services are now squarely aimed at the lowest denominator.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
I still won't be giving it to my child, even if/especially if it is to prevent infecting others, if they are susceptible then they should have the vaccine.
I won't be putting drugs in my daughters system just in case she passes it on, besides if that's the case surely everyone should have it.
My thoughts are the pharmaceutical companies have yet again come up with a way of making millions out of peoples paranoia.
There was a great episode of House where a mum presented with a child with whooping cough and trotted out just this line about immunisations and pharma companies.
If I recall correctly Gregory House agreed with her that pharma companies were exploitative and were hand in hand with the manufacturers of cute little baby sized coffins to share the profits.
Seriously people, do you REALLY think that pharmaceutical companies would put children's health at risk by offering vaccines which would cause them harm to make a profit? Or that the cash strapped NHS would not just offer these vaccines free of charge, but actively promote them, if they did not offer measurable benefit to the recipients? And you call those who do vaccinate paranoid, sheesh0 -

Yes I did run a nursery and no their parents didn't stay but they certainly dropped them off and picked them up, if little molly is taking it home then there is an extremely good chance that the rest of the family will catch it therefore granny if going to catch it will catch it from them anyway.
Until there is vaccinactions for everyone it seems a rather pointless exercise.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -

I didn't say they were putting childrens lives at risk by giving the vaccine, I pointed out that until everyone regardless age is given it it's rather pointless.
Do I think pharmaceutical companies put profit over people?
Damn right I do.

I think person one's point flew so far over your head you were unaware of it.
If toddlers are vaccinated, then neither johnny nor martha will catch the flu, and therefore neither will take it home to their family. So there is a good chance that none of the family will catch the flu, if the weakest link (ie the one with poorest grasp of basic hygiene) has been vaccinated.0 -

I believe there is a vaccine suitable for everyone....some are able to get that jab free by meeting certain criteria...for the rest I think its £8.00 a shot at a tesco pharmacy.
it is indeed personal choice and you are very welcome to your opinions and beliefs...although your comment earlier about waiting to only give it to your child once you have heard of complications affecting her age group etc did strike a chord with me....several years ago my son was struck down with swine flu along with others at his school and hospitalised because clearly someone he came into contact with didnt choose to have a vaccine at the time of quite a major outbreak....as a result of his infection and 3 others it started a mass of immunisations across the county....thankfully there was an uptake which prevented it being spread further.frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend0 -

It really didn't, my point was that whoever dropped the child off would be susceptible unless they never enter the building even then are you saying that nursery is the only place anyone would be exposed to germs?
What about mum and dads work, on the bus, in a cafe, in a public loo, older children at school etc etc etc.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -

How is it ever going to be taken up by everyone - and it's available upon request for free if you are in a high risk complications group (although you can't always have it if you're already very immunocompromised - I haven't been able to for the last couple of years) - and anybody else can get it through work or by popping into Boots or Superdrug, IF, when it is being offered, people say, well, I won't do unless everybody else does?I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
