Breakdown Cover for One Trip?

My OH and I are very lucky in that one of our best friend's is a mechanic and if we ever break down he comes and sorts things out for us - my OH looks after and mends his computer in return.

However, we are going away on holiday so will be driving further afield to the airport and there is a niggling feeling in the back of my mind that we should take out some breakdown cover just in case something happens. But it seems a bit of a waste to take out cover for a full year as we are so busy at the moment that we rarely take trips too far afield. Can you take out cover for a single trip or is this uneconomical?

Thanks in advance for any help.

EDIT: Just found out Britannia do monthly cover.
