This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone :j
I just wanted to say 'Thank you' for all your support and well wishes for my lovely DD. It meant a lot to the both of us. I just wanted to update you with what happened with the Head yesterday. I was rang by the HT who had called DD in and properly listened to her for the first time. She couldn't apologize enough and said how the school had a zero-tolerance to bullying. She didn't know why no appropriate action had been taken before but assured me that she was going to deal with the culprits very harshly. There have been safeguards put into place re DD being alone with the girls involved and arrangements have been made for DD to use the toilet next to Reception which normally the children don't have access to.
She said if there was any more incidents of bullying then we would have a meeting and DD was to let them know if anything happens on the way to and from school.
DD came home from school absolutely glowing:D and said she'd had a brilliant day at school. I told her about the reactions and well wishes from everyone here and she was overwhelmed. We had a conversation about 'turning the other cheek' and we both feel a peace about the situation. My church family are praying about it too and I am so happy that my DD is so loved and cared for by them.
I really appreciate everyones advice on here and I thank you all for your concern. :A:A:A
I'm up this early as I have tummy ache so I thought I would update you all. Hope everyone has a lovely day and gentle hugs for all who would like one.
Cheers m'dears x.
Edited to add - I don't want to come across as a 'Holy Joe' and appreciate that our way would not suit everyone. Believe you me, yesterday I was absolutely raging and had murder in my heart but for my own sake I need to know that there is something/someone bigger than me who can deal with all the crap life hands out. I'm also aware that there are people on here who have been badly affected by bullying and I want to apologise for anything said that has triggered painful memories.0 -
Good morning everyone
Dumpling, I only read your original post late yesterday and was about to post how I hoped you had managed to get things sorted. Of course, now I have read your update and it seems like things are getting done. I am glad you have the support too.
Awful weather here again. Had a 3 hour journey home from work last night and am not looking forward to this morning's commute.
Re redundancy: group consultation is officially over today and we have been told individual consultations will start on 14th October. There is more very bad stuff going on but one of my colleagues got a new job yesterday and I hope that happens for a lot more people .... including me!
No idea what is for dinner so I need to go and raid the freezer, then get ready.
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning everyone
Dumpling - glad things are getting sorted out. I hope the HT keeps her word!
Had an awful nights sleep last night. Had a pretty awful day yesterday too! Really awful traffic caused me to miss my doctors appointment, so I had to reschedule for yesterday afternoon. Ended up being late for work anyway due to awful traffic, and then had an awful 5 hours at work. Finally got away and to the doctors then I had a very funny turn when she was taking the 4th vial of blood and almost fainted.
Finally got home and then had to go and pick BF up from work, got stuck in traffic again, and then got soaked in the rain! The only good point yesterday was treating myself to a Chinese takeaway! I needed it after everything that happened!
Now I feel rough this morning due to lack of sleep and I have an incredibly busy day at work today :-(
Tomorrow morning is flu jab clinic at the doctors, so I'm going to go early, get it over with and then I can come home and hibernate for the rest of the day!
Hope you all have a good day!the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -
Morning all

Bb poor dog :-(
Up early with baby. Most unusual for him. He whinged in his sleep and coughed all night. Hope its just teeth and not sickening.
Busy day here. Two groups to take baby to and lunch with friend in between. No idea what will happen food wise.

My mum had a hip replacement yesterday which went very well, will try to get to see her tomorrow, she has been unable to walk properly for months so I hope this can help her.

Morning all,
Wet here again but feels mild. DH is off fishing today, he says only for a few hours. We'll see!
Dumpling - So pleased the head has at last taken you/DD seriously.
JackieO - Enjoy France and I hope you get your dip!
Glitterkitty - Well at least today can only get better.
TTFTM - Let's hope your works mate's job luck rubs off on you all
Think my dad is popping in this morning. Then it's work. I think I may do something mincey for dinner tonight. Since watching GBBO I keep wanting to make a jam roly poly, so may do one of those too.
Have a good Friday!0 -
Morning all
No work for me today and hubby on lates so a lazy start today.
Dumpling, glad you have had some resolution.
BB, some people shouldn't own dogs!
Molly, I hope you are ok.
LW, I hope you get paid and get more doggy company soon.
All my illusions about myself were shattered yesterday, I have been received back at work with much joy and jubilation (lots of people are scared of the photocopiers) one of our BAC TA's saw me and said. 'I'm so glad you are back, I can't use your machines, last time I tried I got down on my knees beside the machine and prayed, I prayed so hard, I asked God to please return THE LITTLE OLD LADY who runs these machines'. I'm grateful for her prayers, but little old lady, I'm 62, less of the old please. I accept that the children think I'm old, but this lady is in her mid 40's
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning all,
dumpling so glad it's been taken seriously, was thinking about your DD all night.
hester she would be totally shocked if she knew you were still Hestering at your age:eek::rotfl:
I've already done a blog post this morning. I'm enjoying it and it keeps me busy whilst I can't go out to work.
Can I have lots of fingers crossed this morning please. The car has gone for its MOT, gosh it would be absolutely amazing if it passes.
Need some food shopping today, boring stuff like toilet rolls. Is it only me that resents buying toilet rolls, I always feel I'm being ripped off. Maybe that's because I'm tight lol I've no idea what else I would use:eek:
Ok better get on , have a Good Friday xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.
Working hard to get rid of our debt.0 -
Good morning everybody,
HH-what cheek
Dumpling, glad things are better for DD,good for the head.
BB-poor dog
Good luck with the car MOT Julie.
Nothing much planned for today-depends what time my dog food delivery arrives. If its early enough I'll do the shopping. We'll probably have meat pie tonight from the freezer.
My niece and DGN did visit at lunchtime but just turned up,she usually rings first, and coincided her arrival with DH & DS2 luckily cos there was a strange man on the drive.DH isnt too sure whether he wanted money but he said he was on the main road and had run out of diesel, and he'd walked up to the garage with a can.Obviously didnt get any but was going on a bit,DH just ushered DN in and said sorry he couldnt help. Its not that he is unhelpful but it was a bit odd to leave the main road and come down a quiet street and pass 9 other houses before ours.
Yesterday I nearly finished my remake of the Moses basket cover I seem to have been doing ages, just needs 2 elastics stitching on the hood part so it'll stop up when its up,IYSWIM :rotfl:Looks good,DS is pleased,DiL2b hasnt seen it yet.I was going to present it to her at her baby shower in a couple of weeks but she's decided not to bother as her friend was going to organise it and is now too busy.DiL2b doesnt feel up to doing the organising herself as she hasnt been that well throughout the pregnancy and doesnt want any extra mither( not sure if thats a Northern word and some of you may not know it)
Right, better get the hound out, though its gone really dark, think its gonna start chucking it down
Hope you all have good days x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0
