smart parking asda

Driving a large hilux 4x4 vehicle i parked in my local asda to shop there. As i was next to another large 4x4 i parked on the line allowing enough room for the other driver to be able to get back into their vehicle. Returning with my shopping, my son noticed a guy putting a ticket on my windscreen for £40 (if i paid within two weeks) When i asked what i had done wrong he told me i was blocking the bay next to me,,,my son and i were amazed as we looked around and the car park was only a quarter full. I was only on the line of my bay !!! I almost laughed at him , i explained why i had parked the way i did and he said he agreed and understood why i had done it but still i had broken the rules. I said that the other driver would need access to their car. He soon left me to chase after a transit van he could spy parking on the other side of the car park, obviously hoping they had committed the same crime as me. I really don't feel that this is fair, the company is called smart parking, but should i do nothing and ignore it?? My husband was livid as i spend around £1000 a month in Asda and took my statements in to asda and showed them what a loyal customer i was and they just said it's nothing to do with them. My husband looked at the signs available in the car park and it doesnt mention out of marked bay parking as stated on the ticket Please help !!!

Well, hope in future you spend your £1000 a month at a supermarket that does not try to scam its customers with fake parking tickets.Be happy...;)0

Oh dear that complaint in Asda was typical in that your husband (presumably) didn't insist on seeing the Store Manager and just believed them when the random Asda employee or so-called 'Duty Manager' said they don't own the car park (they are well known to use that lie).
Start again.
Go in dressed smartly (business suit for your husband, jacket & heels for you) and complain to the overall Store Manager ONLY and insist the thing is cancelled or you will vote with your feet. If they say the Council owns the car park say that Asda are a laughing stock online for trotting out that lie and that you suggest they check their facts because Smart are Asda's agent and this is Asda's problem. Say that if the Store Manager doesn't cancel it you want to CEO's contact details, or a named contact in the Asda Executive Relations Team to ring YOU within 24 hours, to sort this out sharpish if they want to keep your £1000 per month business and that of your facebook contacts!
Look at all these successes, this should have been you and still can be! Three Asda complaint successes shown on here and I only started the thread recently:

OK, so if the complaint falls on deaf ears put stuff about it on Facebook and Twitter and move on to planning the appeal to Smart. BUT THE FIRST CHALLENGE TO SMART IS BEST DONE AS A DISH SERVED COLD, AFTER THE FIRST LETTER ARRIVES IN THE POST IN NOVEMBER, SO READ UP ON IT FIRST WHILE YOU WAIT:

On pepipoo forum and on here we win 100% of the time at POPLA (2nd stage appeal) where posters follow our advice over the appeal. EVERY TIME. NO-ONE LOSES, NO-ONE PAYS. As you have a month before the letter will arrive (or in fact, up to 56 days later) you have YONKS to get this cancelled by complaining first.PRIVATE 'PCN'? And don't forget to ask the Manager to explain the statement at the bottom off 99% of all signs at Asda Stores
".. This car park is private property and is managed on behalf of Asda Stores Ltd"
A bit difficult to deny ownership when it clearly states it's them.0 -
The CEO of ASDA has an email
andy.clarke@asda.co.uk
Another tactic you may get some satisfaction from is to fill up a trolley and halfway through the check out say you must go and move your car.
Personally I like to take them to POPLA Because I know it costs them money and adds to chaos at the BPA Ltd.0 -

And you think he personally gets email on that before its intercepted by the office boy?
Only if the CEO allows all his email to be accessed by his office boy. It may well be handled by his PA though and I would expect that there are standing instructions for this as you won't be the first one to write to him.0 -

I expect it goes to the Executive Relations team so that Jonathan Bottomley & co. can reply and spectacularly fob the customer off...but at least emailing the CEO is a proactive complaint.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thank you all for helping me,,,i phoned the asda branch at Waterlooville this morning, Spoke to the store manager and found that she was professional enough to listen to my frustration over the parking ticket and confirmed that this ticket would be cancelled as a gesture of goodwill for this time only. She also arranged for the area manager of Smart Parking to call me which he did only a moment after my call to her. He said that whilst they do have a job to do common sense should have prevailed and that he would address my concerns with the car park attendant today, he said it's not their job to upset Asda customers and apologised profusely. I have been a very loyal customer to Asda and so i feel i can continue to do this now this preventable situation has been resolved,,,,,xxxxxx0

Well done - insist on a Store Manager every time (and if it ever happens again of course). Cancelling any fake PCN from a private firm can almost always be done if you complain to the right person. Shame on the Asda Colleague who fobbed your OH off at first.
I will add your success to the top sticky thread about successful complaints, so you are now officially in the 'Hall of Fame' as we call it!
