  • To be very honest im more starting to feel like I couldn't care what they do its a genuine case that ive been made redundant from work which in itself has been hard enough to take... I just simply wont be able to afford the payments unless I can very quickly gain employment again and to be honest £1600 worth of furniture will be the least of my worries when ive let them know as soon as I found out I was being made redundant... they wouldn't have even started making the items yet!!

I just find it really hard to take that in a genuine case like this they cant just take it that the sale may be delayed until I gain employment again...

    Advice Please...
In worst case scenario that I do not gain employment for over 6 months and I don't make a payment on the sofa do the finance company take me to court and I will end up with a ccj ??

If you have not paid any money, unless they can prove they have suffered some loss by you not wanting the sofa and I mean really prove it, then they have little re-course.
    Be happy...;)

I haven't paid a penny as yet... they did want £51 when it turns up in 4 weeks, is that deffinately the case because most people who have replied seem to think I have no leg to stand on

Thats why you have to get to the shop asap, then they will not be able to tell you, oh we have already started making your suite, the fabric has been cut, etc, etc.
Looking forward to the day I have nothing left to list on eBay

So you get made redundant within two days? Was there no notice of this? If so why go out and look to buy a sofa?

You say that ive confirmed that the sizing is ok over the phone, I haven't ever signed a new contract without "subject to sizing" on so how do they prove ive agreed to the sizing issue??

Human nature at it's best lying to get out of the contract and trying to get the salesperson in trouble by doing so.

Do the right thing go into the showroom advise the store manager of your current circumstances and also speak to the finance company as you do have 14 days to cancel the finance if you read your paperwork properly.:)

I bought sofas in store with DFS. Don't know if it makes a difference but they were sofas available to take away from store. We paid £600 cash and the rest we signed a credit agreement. That was a Friday. Monday came and I had changed my mind so I went in store and altho not happy they gave me a refund. I waited 2 weeks for this to clear in my account.

I don't know if it made any dif but the Fri I bought it I was heavily pregnant and the Monday I went in with a newborn!
