When laying solid wood flooring what's the best approaches for the edging?
Beading that matches, approximately, the wood or white that matches the skirting boards? Or is there a third alternative?
Thanks.

If you are going to the expense of fitting solid wood flooring, go for the 3rd alternative, remove the skirting.A thankyou is payment enough .0

...is the right answer.
Remove skirting, fit floor, refit skirting.

Belt and braces is both of the above but be prepared to have to touch up your walls if you do this.
My wife loves the quarter-round edging so we used this and it looks great but each to their own.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -

The $64k question though is did you stain the beading to match the floor or paint it to match the skirts? Your right too - personal choice very much comes into it.somethingcorporate wrote: »My wife loves the quarter-round edging so we used this and it looks great but each to their own.

Ideally, remove skirting, lay floor, then refit skirting.
More practically.........undercut door frames etc. match beading to skirting.
Having seen the alternative, and talked to places selling flooring.......you REALLY want to match any beading to skirting.0 -
Ideally remove the skirting,
If you don't want to do it, get the beading to match the skirting. NOT the wood,
My upstairs is ruined! I have beading that matches the wood. (It looks so ugly, that I started a vent thread on this forum that day)
Downstairs looks lovely. Beading is white, it matches the wood, it just looks like some fancy skirting - cant tell apart.
