Book required for Uni - expensive

Options
You are advised to purchase the recommended human textbook (Seeley’s Anatomy and Physiology-)

Seeley’s Anatomy and Physiology. VanPutte, Regan and Russo. McGraw Hill Higher Education; 10th Revised edition (2013) ISBN-10: 1259060934 | ISBN-13: 978-125906093917

DD seems to have to have the latest version which is over £100!

And then she has a list of other books but they have said not to buy the ones that are £70 each until they have spoken to the lecturers.

I can buy it here but it's from US and not sure if this is genuine site

Tbh i dont think the edition matters. The book is anatomy and physiology. As far as i know there havent been any major breakthru changes in the layout of the body, that need books to be rewritten lol. The only difference between editions might be the layout of the book and the style of picture

In the case of the anatomy books recommended for my course, the latest edition had links to additional online content. Not worth the extra money. And most exams/workbooks used pictures from old text books, as the papers arent rewritten that often.

I would also hold off buying any books. Her uni should have lots of copies of core text. Loan them and then see if you use them much, before shelling out.

I've bought it. Found it on Waterstones or Smiths for £45. I went with Waterstones as I had found an old gift card in her room when cleaning and it had £10 on it.

This is the only book that they advised to buy. All library copies out. She emailed her tutor and they said they give most core material but this book is required.

I've bought paperback version. Not sure why it's so expensive 2nd hand for same version!

Still trying to work out from this FB message which other ones are "essential" !

    Textbooks
You will need to consult textbooks to consolidate the information you are given in lectures and practicals. Many textbooks are suitable for the course; an alphabetical selection is given below. Do NOT buy a textbook until after the first introductory lecture.
NOT IN ANY ORDER LISTED ALPHABETICALLY

    Berne & Levy “Physiology”
Bray, Cragg, MacKnight, Mills & Taylor “Lecture Notes on Human Physiology”
    Costanzo (2nd Edn) “Physiology”
Davies, Blakeley & Kidd “Human Physiology”
    Ganong “Human Physiology”
Guyton & Hall “Textbook of Medical Physiology”
Vander, Sherman & Luciano “Review of Medical Physiology”....

Re text books: no one book which entirely covers the Anatomical Science units .

You are advised to purchase the recommended human textbook (Seeley’s Anatomy and Physiology-), and to use the library Essential texts are underlined.

You can reserve copies. Takes a bit of planning, but you reserve a copy, before your one is due back, that way you always keep a copy. The library will also have non-loan copies too, which just means you have to study in the library (unheard of i know lol)

Personally i prefer the tortora book they suggest, compared to seeleys.

If you are good at googling you can usually find online copies of books for free, or tap 2nd and 3rd students to sell their books to you, or at least ask them, how often they used those on the reading list.
