When I try to open a pdf online using Acrobat I just get a blank screen???

If I'm on a website and there's a link to look at a pdf when I click on it another window is opened with the address for the pdf but the screen is completely blank. If I try to refresh the page it appears to try to reload something and then says "done" on the message line at the bottom but the screen doesn't change - it's still blank. Is there a simple explanation for this problem or not???? I would be really grateful if anyone could help me with this...:D
