Hotpoint washing machine parts cover

We've just got a new Hotpoint machine and the accompanying brochure boasts 'free 5 year parts guarantee' but the form is really for a repair plan costing £199 for five years 'including' the free 12 months manufacturer's guarantee (in other words £199 for four years). It doesn't seem to offer the parts guarantee on its own.
We have a local engineer who's done repairs on our previous machine from time to time for very low charges, but I think he may be retiring soon. But a combination of his work and free parts was attractive.
Is this an expensive warranty or does it compare favourably with others?

This is very misleading.
A parts warranty will not be honoured unless repairs are carried out by the manufacturer or the manufacturer's approved agent. They will not be supplied FOC on any other basis.
Currently Hotpoint, really The Indesit Company (it's an Indesit in disguise these days) the labour charge, per call, is £90.
