"Who cares what a judge thinks?"

You lost any credibility you had when you said that.
Losing credibility with someone who thinks that is no skin off my nose.

Judges uphold laws passed by bent politicians. If a judge decides that the bank is correct in this case because legislation says so, that's wrong. The fact that me thinking that makes you accuse me of a lack of credibility means that your opinion is 100% worthless.

People like you can't get past the fact that judges and banks and the government are just businesses. You accept that they rule over us and that if they say something it must be kosher.

Boil it down to a level of people. People walking about. Your next door neighbour. You and me. You and the OP.

Now, imagine banks and whatnot don't exist. Someone in your village decides that someone needs to rule over the rest of you. That person then enlists the help of some cronies, and TELLS you that what they say is right and whether you agree you have to abide by it. They then tell you what the OP has gone through.

On a human to human level, it's not right. If i accidentally took too much money off my neighbour, i'd give the money back right away as an honest mistake. Because some guys in suits who claimed jurisdiction over us passed law that says it's alright (even though most normal people would agree it's not) it suddenly makes it ok? And if i question that decision i lose credibility? The mindset of most of the people on here is laughable at best. Try educating yourself.

Sounds like you should go live out on a remote mountain somewhere rather than in a civilised society. Then you can live how you want and not have to worry about laws and regulations.

I'm curious how £300 for 10ish days could really cause that much hardship to someone who recently found enough cash to settle a large loan or had enough disposable income to take a loan over a very short time frame

I find it entirely believable that all spare money went on settling the loan, leaving nothing for emergencies. I just paid nearly £7000 (ouch) to settle a loan early, so I sympathise with the OP. :p

Again, who cares what a judge thinks? Is a judge following bent legislation which heavily favours corporate entities over human beings the marker that something is reasonable and fair?

The above really is coming over a bit tinfoil hat.

And your contention that we just "put numbers in" is idiotic. You may as well say that a particle physicist just throws things around (and yes, I was a particle physicist before deciding to use my numeracy to make some money in a bank...)

Taking money you're not owed and then refusing to give it back right away is civilised? Ok.

Compassion for other people = tinfoil hat? Ok.

So you don't just put numbers into computers?

Noam Chomsky thinks otherwise. I guess he's 'idiotic' too? (Google him, he'll make you realise how dense you are, despite the fact that you purposely threw a particle physicist analogy in there purely to set yourself up for self-promotion to make it look like your nonsense is worth a damn).

As you work in a bank you surely know how 'money' moves about? Even though technically nothing 'moves'? Or are you saying you don't know that the total amount of money in existence is only 3% of the actual total of physical real money in circulation? Did they not teach you this in Bank 101?

They're not refusing to give it back.

No, trading hybrids is a little more involved than that.

I'd explain it to you, but someone who can't understand the difference between a refusal, and a few days delay is not exactly going to be able to graduate to slightly more advanced financial concepts.

You seem to be edging close to "fiat money is fraud" quackery now, by the way. May I ask, do you live with your parents?

I actually own my own house, mortgage free. Paid for by myself don't you know.

There are so many noted scholars and experts in their chosen trades (ranging from banking to linguistics to economics) that disagree with you that you're just making yourself look like an idiot. Not that there's anyone here that can comprehend that idiocy.

Talking about fiat money is fine, but your original point was that it's a lot more than putting numbers into computers as if money is some tangible real thing, when we both know it's not, it's numbers.
