What do I do with my car?
Options
I need some help please.
I have a Ford Ka 2 1997 with a misfire.
The car is running but...
One of the cylinder is not working, no compression at all.
The car is burning oil (and I mean all the oil!)
A good mechanic had a look at it and told me that although it could be a valve that need changing it looks as it is more serious and that the engine is basically nearly dead.
My MOT has expired.
Well, I am now seriously considering getting rid of it but the problem is what is the best option for me?
Paying to have it scrapped?
Trying to sell on ebay for part?
Trying to part-exchange it (if I manage to drive there!)
HELP PLEASE!!!

I recommend giving it to your local Fire Brigade. They'll use it to practice getting people out and, as there aren't too many scrap Kas around, it will be particularly useful.
We did this with a Clio last year.Can I help?0 -
Pop it on Ebay. Only costs you a couple of quid to list it and if it sells, then good job.
The value of scrap is quite high at the moment so they should be paying you for the car, not you paying them.
Not sure about P/X as most places need at least a valid MOT, even if it's only a day to run.0 -
The fact that the car is both burning a lot of oil and has no compression on a cylinder suggests something a tad more serious than a duff valve so I'd agree that the engine is probably dead.
That said, it may be worth investigating if your mechanic can source a decent secondhand engine if the car's otherwise in good nick. If it isn't then it's time to put it on ebay as "spares or repair" as Conor says.0
