Disgusted by RAC
I have a breakdown roadside assistance policy with them and a repair warranty which covered up to a £2000 repair up to five times a year, when I took the warranty out it could only be taken out if I had breakdown roadside assistance in the first place.
Realising I had not had a renew letter from them I phoned them up for the renewal date only to be told that the warranty side had been withdrawn and my policy had expired a week ago.
I asked the RAC operative why I was not informed a month before the policy was due to expire that this was happening and the operator said they have been told not to inform anyone by post phone or any other method !
My assistance policy was renewed as normal as it was taken out originally a few days before the breakdown warranty was taken out by me some years ago.
Now I have been a few days without a warranty on my car and I will have to wait another 14 days exclusion time if I can get a warranty cover today
I cannot believe in this age of communication a company can get away with this.

Get away with what? - There is no law that requires them to notify you of non-renewal or to insist that they automatically renew you.
You need to get yourself a diary (old fashioned or computerized) and make a record of things like this and then check it every day so you're aware of whats happening.
On a positive note though, it's good that you've made other people aware of this customer unfriendly attitude from the RAC. Perhaps others will decide to avoid them - I certainly will!0 -
It makes a change from all the complaints about auto-renewals from breakdown companies. Now I have been a few days without a warranty on my car and I will have to wait another 14 days exclusion time if I can get a warranty cover todayChange is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0

Buy you knew the polict expiry date, So why did you not contact them as i did last year?
No renewal a week before the policy was due, Contacted them and they said that the renewal had gone out on the 30th June.
2 weeks later still no renewal pack, So phoned them again and they sent another one out.
That one arrived. I wonder where the other 2 went.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Quote "A £2000 repair up to 5 times a year."
I'd like to see someone getting that off of a warranty insurance.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -

I'd love to see the list of exclusions for this policy0

Or use the "Tart Alert" text message/e-mail reminder service.

Yeah that,s why I get WTC, Then again how much money I have really is irrelevant in this situation.0
