are bathroom cream cleaners necessary? any natural alternatives ?

i had someone helping me cleaning my bathroom yesterday. i believe they used a cream cleaner that they didn't wash properly because the whole place smelt really strongly for the whole day, until i washed everything off in the evening. in doing so, my hands felt very soapy (i am guessing this is the alkaline content of one of the cleaners).
is there any natural alternative (is a cream cleaner even necessary?), so that i don't have to worry about my skin or health, or how much of it got on my toothbrush.
thanks

The OS board collectively will know far more about this than I do, but I'd start with white vinegar, caustic soda (very carefully) and bicarbonate of soda (by the handful).
Hoping your hands (& teeth) feel OK soon!0 -
I use the Method range of cleaners. They contain naturally-derived non-toxic ingredients and have a light, pleasant scent.Everyone is entitled to my opinion!0
