Bude in Cornwall

We're going on a well earned 5 day break on Monday to Bude in Cornwall. Theres 4 adults going and 1 child, I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions of things to do there since I looked on the weather forecast today and its forecast to rain EVERY day (typical, theres goes my idea of sitting in the sun all week).

Does any one know of any nice resturants to go for meals? Some child friendly and some for the adults (as we ll take it in turns looking after the little un!) and some things to do in the day to please!

  • I absolutely love Bude. Take plenty of wet weather gear in fact all weather gear and just get out no matter what and enjoy its majestic beauty. Walk from Crooklets beach aross the main beaches, have lunch at the Falcon hotel then set off on the canal walk and onto the coast path to Widmouth Bay and then come back to Bude overland. A good Ordinance survey map will show you exactly what I mean. Super Leisure Pool if not feeling like going far. Great museum-- My great uncle ,Fred Staddon is the blacksmith mentioned in the museum.

I was there in February. It's a nice part of the country. You will need to be able to get out and about though, otherwise you might find 5 days too much in Bude alone.

Widmouth Bay is nice and it's close too. You can enjoy watching the sufers there. Boscastle and Tintagel are not too far away and will be nice at this time of year.

So I would think that lots of driving trips along the local coastal towns might be best.
  • The Big Sheep is a good day out for the kids http://www.thebigsheep.co.uk/
also you might like the Milky Way Adventure Park if its wet, http://www.themilkyway.co.uk/
As already mentioned there is a nice splash pool in Bude.

    Have a lovely holiday!

Hi there i use to live in Bude and only live 18 miles away now.
As mentioned before splash is a good pool but if the weather does turn out nice you could always use the open air pool on summerleaze beach.
There is a bowling alley and indoor playcentre near splash which is also good.
For meals The falcon hotel is good(had wedding there),Lifes a beach and if you didn't mind drivin about 5miles out there is a pub/resturant called The London Inn which does excellent food(mums pub she cooks most of the time)and children always welcome(playarea if weather ok).
If you wanted to travel for a day out about 18miles away is an adventure farm called trethorne which is very good we often go up there.
If i think of anything else i'll let you know.

    Marie.

Do they still have the sewage outlet there? My school went to the activity centre and the advice was 'Don't swallow the sea water when you're surfing!'

Sure enough, 70% of us came down with the raging trots and vomiting. Ah, fond memories ;)
    My TV is broken!
