Seemingly it's a retailer initiative not from Sony, one ponders if the "major" retailers will be following suit.

This is causing a lot of waves, SG's stand to lose a lot of goodwill over this as its naught but profiteering.

If this was me, I would be cancelling the order. I may want the Day 1 edition but I won't be held to ransom over it

I'll be honest, until this thread I'd never heard of Simply Games - there's a limited number of companies I'd buy something like this from & they're not on the list! (Amazon, Game, ShopTo are pretty much it online) Due to the high ticket nature of the item combined with the high demand, I certainly wouldn't be using a store like that, heck I wouldn't even be using my local indie for it - and I know their business well enough to trust them.

This is sounding like it borders on a bait and switch scam. I would definitely cancel the order if I had preordered from them.

The bundling is no different to Game and The now dead Gamestation who would only sell the really in demand items in bundles.

Cancelling pre-orders and forcing you to buy a bundle isn't something Game or Gamestation do , but then again only they tend to only sell the latest consoles with a game anyway.
