Biggest Threats to Cyclists?

I am not anti-cyclist (i'm a pedestrian most of the time and see all kinds of stupid behaviour from my fellows which I am happy to condemn!) just making my observations.0

It's incredible that HGVs are allowed through busy cities, yet don't seem to be able to see anything around their vehicle. How was this ever allowed to happen and why does everyone think it's acceptable.

Lets's get this right, you want HGV's (how about buses as well?) banned from cities?0 -
HGVs, again.

No details yet, but this is heartbreaking.:( 6 in 2 weeks all under the wheels of large vehicles.....Lets's get this right, you want HGV's (how about buses as well?) banned from cities?
After that latest death, I may change my mind and call their banning also....0 -

Just updated those stats as it appears there has been yet another cyclist death involving an HGV this morning according to BBC News0 -

maybe a little extreme
however something has to be done
lets be straight here
cycling is the future
cities simply cannot accommodate an increasing amount of motorised vehicles
We have an obesitity ticking timebomb
If cities cant/wont provide adequate separate cycling infrastructure, then answers need to be found
how about no construction traffic during rush hour
only large vehicles meeting specific criteria allowed in cities(eg extra mirrors, sidebars, cameras etc)
proper enforcement of cycling infrastructure inplace already with rigid enforcement for both cars and cyclists0 -

No, I was think more about making them safer. There are extra mirrors some are using. Even cameras.
A car isn't allowed on the roads without mirrors to see all around. Why is it acceptable for a mega tonne HGV to drive around with tiny mirrors that can't even see down the side. Many can't even see the few metres ahead of them.0 -
I'm always shocked by how many cyclists seem to think the traffic lights don't apply to them when they are using their bikes on the roads.
I am increasingly shocked by the number of car drivers, lorry drivers, bus drivers, but especially black can drivers, who seem to think that there is some rule that allows drivers who are up to two vehicles behind the stop line when the red light appears, to carry on through the red light.
At least all the motorists I encounter on my walk to work in central London do this. And you can do a lot more damage with a car, bus or truck. Why is it acceptable for a mega tonne HGV to drive around with tiny mirrors that can't even see down the side. Many can't even see the few metres ahead of them.
Why is acceptable for people to be allowed to cycle in cities if they don't have the mental acuity to understand that cycling down the inside of a truck is a very stupid thing to do.
And I am not talking about people who end up on the inside of a truck due to the truck doing a bad overtake, but all the people I see everyday who deliberately put themselves in that position.0 -
The biggest issue where I live are cyclists ignoring the infrastructure put in place for them. The main road (busy single carriageway A-road) I travel on for the last two miles of my commute home has a new, smooth, separated cycle path running alongside it yet cyclists regularly cycle two abreast on the road itself. I'm not a cycle hater, I cycle myself, but I find this infuriating.0
