Thursday 3rd October - What Small DFW Things Will You Be Doing Today

When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:

Morning

Got a busy day at work today so I'm up early, already on the train! Had a nice early-ish night last night. Managed to do one balance transfer (transferring my debt from my mums card to mine - figure that now I have my mortgage I should get all my debt into my name. Especially as my mum is in the process of applying for a mortgage now!)

Aiming for a NSD today. Already spent £16.90 of my weekly budget (£30) (still need to do my food shop!!)

List for today:
• Check bank and CCs
• Update app
• Lunch from home - leftover spag Bol from last night (I haven't been sticking to meal plan this week so need to get better at that!!)!
• Stay in a lunch
• Email company about a gift experience I have - voucher expires in October, but they are closed between September-March!!
• Get the bus to station tonight (cheaper than tube)
• Put washing away from weekend (been meaning to do this all week!!)
• Do a new meal plan for next week
• Start food shopping list for weekend
• Quick tidy about
• Early night

- Went out super early (7am) to collect a parcel and avoid the traffic as I'm low on petrol
- Checked bank accounts
- Taking lunch into work
- SFD today (taking purse though as I don't like driving without it, just in case)
- Food from stores
- Putting the washing on as soon as I get home rather than my usual habit of putting it on a timer to be finished as soon as I get home (don't know how much energy this saves but I figure every little helps)

Morning Everyone ,

Today I will:

★ Check Bank - Done - Received Work Expenses Back Yay
★ Have a NSD (Aiming for 4th in a row)
★ Search online for cheapest Vet to get my 2 cats neutered

I'm being taken to lunch today with work so didn't need to take anything in, pre-ordered and chose the healthy options.

I'll update throughout the day, have a great day everyone!! :D

Keep going, you will get there!

• Morning lovelies!!

Again, not a terribly exciting list from me today as we're still house-sitting for the in-laws! Brilliant for us though as we've spent nothing all week!!

So, I'm on nights tonight, so today looks something like this:

:) Collect eggs from the chickens for brekkie

:) Long run with pooch over the common

:) 30-Day Shred workout DVD

:) Check Online Banking and transfer OH's pay to joint account

:) Nectar Adpoints

:) Washing, drying and ironing at DMIL's - saves electricity!

:) Lunch from stores

:) Travel Ins company called yesterday to say they could beat their original quote - will call me later and finalise... Worth leaving them hanging sometimes!!

:) Nectar Adpoints

:) Hand wash car using DBIL's swanky products - might do his too to compensate ;) ha!

:) Have a nap so I'm not to tired at work tonight!

:) Make dinner by the time OH gets home

:) Claim another 3 hours OT from a big job I had in last night!

:) Take snack in to work & keep hydrated overnight

:) No Spend Day!

Think that's about it really... Finding it very strange not being at home and finding little jobs to do here and there throughout the day!!

Hope everyone has a great day! Good luck with whatever today has in store for you, especially Ally & OH for your interviews!!

Good morning all, I'm at home today as feeling under the weather and I've a feeling my colleagues would have been less than impressed with my constant coughing.:(

Unfortunately that hasn't saved us money as my hubby still had to do the 140 round trip commute, but it's all budgeted for any.

Interesting reading about people driving at different times to avoid traffic/additional fuel costs, we vary in the times we get out of the house and this can sometimes add a substantial amount onto our commute, so I will ask the hubby if we can trial a tank of fuel on very early morning starts and see if this makes a difference.

Being at home I can at least do some bits, so I'll be checking all my banking and moving around things and making payments, I will re-do my snowball and see what that is looking like.

I picked up on someone last night mentioning premium service on quidco, just realised that I have some long tracked- but not paid out cash back so I'm currently on the online chat to try and get resolved! they are looking into it apparently! Will wait to hear!

I'm going to write a follow up complaint and speak to Amex about a car hire we didn't use but have still been charged for, despite being told we wouldn't be. will do this at work tomorrow as 0845 number :(

I have to go to chemists for some cough medicine, so will take a bag of clothes for charity shop next door and park on road on 30 mins only section to stop me visiting nice little shops! took a MASSIVE bag, things that could of gone on eBay, but had lots of reasons to give to good causes over last few weeks so think they are more deserving than me

Wait for postie to see if a letter comes from Student Loan company, I spoke to them 2 weeks ago and found out I only have 9 more payments left, I've swapped this over to pay by Direct Debit, so that they can't take an overpayment, followed it up with an email to my payroll team, but haven't had direct debit confirmation through yet and don't want to be in the situation where it's taken from my salary AND by direct debit next month! So will chase it up if I don't hear anything today. Popped into bank and they've received DD instruction, so fingers crossed correct paperwork has gone across to my payroll department, will be keeping my eye on this one!

I was going to do a little supermarket shop, but as the only store near to where I am going is a waitrose I might do an online Mr T order if I can get a free click and collect slot, we pass every night on way home and means we can time our diesel fill ups, pay on Amex for Avios points and tesco clubcard points (but only when fuel is cheaper than our local garage!) Mr T shop ordered and £3.40's worth of coupons used! Didn't manage to get free click & collect slot, but figured I would spend more if we went into store and really hate shopping on a Friday night!

If the weather is nice on Sunday we are due to be going to the zoo with some friends, then out for a meal after, so I'm going to see if I can hunt down any vouchers/codes! Haven't found any yet, but enetered some competitions in the meantime!

Think that is plenty for now! :rotfl:

Have a great day everyone

Also managed to make dinner from stores, old school classic of Toad in the Hole! :-) Smells lovely!
• Gosh is it Thursday already! :o I was looking for this post today and had to do a double take when I saw it say Thursday 3rd October lol!

I was hoping for another NSD today, but had to pick up some milk for £1 from the shop on the way to school, but that will be it for today. Am trying to get away with doing any shopping until Sunday, so that technically my shopping budget for this week becomes next week's shopping budget, iyswim!

Also going to pick up the Boots Christmas catalogue today and have a flick through. Have got most bits and pieces for xmas already, but will only buy stuff from Boots when their £12 points events are on. Am on a budget this Christmas!!!
• Done the washing.
• Washed the pots and tidied the house.
• Need to finish decorating the bathroom coz I didn't do it yesterday.
• Checked all accounts and statements.
• Finish sorting file and shredding stuff - I love shredding stuff!!! :p
• Only spent £1 on milk - buying nothing else today!
• Feeling a bit bored today so going to look into ways of upping my income to help pay stuff off quicker.
That's about it I suppose, so I hope you all have a productive, happy day! :):):)
• Darn, SFD out the window! Got into the office and found we needed (soya, so expensive) milk and it was my turn to buy. Oh well, no other spends needed today.
