This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

    Another hi and fly visit.

One manager at work is trying to help DH so we will see who wins the battle.

Has anyone heard from Halight? I haven't seen him here for ages.

LW - I hope they get the computer system sorted and you get some more visitors soon. Oh and paid too of course!

Sausage meatballs and stir fried cabbage for dinner, no weight lost again this week so have to try to be good :o

I better get going so will leave with usual well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs or just wants them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

Good Morning TTFTM and All Who Follow x

Hester - glad things are going well at school. It really sounds like they missed you x

Feeling a wee bit sad today but will find something to do so hopefully it will lift quickly. I am trying to eat more healthily so hope that will help.

Need to do some decluttering and tidying and cleaning. Im not going to replace my old cleaner as I cold not bear to be upset like that again. Im ok with that decision but not sure the boys are:rotfl:

Chat to DD last night and she was most disconcerted to find out how much it cost to go to the laundry room. Oh well - welcome to the real world I say - she has been spoilt! She seems more settled though:T

Hugs for a good day x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • Morning all
TTFM, I hope you and hubby get some improvement in your work situations.
Molly, hugs, glad DD is feeling more settled, have you thought of using a cleaning agency, that way you are less likely to be let down.
Damp here this morning, torrential rain forecast later, that will be fun, I wonder how many classrooms will prove unusable due to flooding.
Last day of work for me for this week, poor hubby is worn out, he worked til 10 last night, humping furniture and has 2 weekends of work plus a 15 hour day to do, he just keeps saying 'Think of the money'.
Time I made my breakfast, poached egg on toast I think.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.

    Morning All

Very wet here but surprisingly mild. Don't have enough washing of any particular load so wont do any today, it would just hang about on the airers anyway.

Friend popped in on her way home about 5 yesterday so had a good natter to her, she left about half 7! I had been to the dentist so was feeling a little sorry for myself, just had a sandwich for tea as DD has gone to France for a few days so didn't have to cook tea for her. Taking lentil soup for my lunch, made it about a week ago and put bags in the freezer - it's the sort of stuff that sticks your ribs together!

Work and hospice shift today and then relax, need to clean DDs bathroom while she's away so may do that.

Have a good day all, take care. XX

ETA - Anyone else noticed that when you post it says you need to wait 30 seconds between posts and then it appears twice?

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's very dark and drizzly here again this morning. Hopefully it will clear up in a bit as I'm going out this morning to town with my friend to try out my new bus pass!

I'm going to have a rant here so feel free to skip this bit :o
My beautiful sweet and sensitive DD10 is being really badly bullied at school and it's absolutely ruining her confidence. I don't know what to do for the best. The school are not helpful, they are supposed to have a vigorous anti-bullying stance but don't seem to be doing anything to stop it. Yesterday a group of girls held my daughter's hands under the hot air dryer until they were burnt. She said she told the teacher and nothing was done about it. She's started to keep a diary of all the incidents and you can see it's escalating. I want to pull her out of the school and send her to another one but there isn't really any more local schools within walking distance and I can't drive. She will be going to senior school next September but that's a very long time away and even then, the bullies will be going to the same school again. It absolutely breaks my heart to see her come home from school upset again. I will be going to the school again and speaking to the head and her class teacher but I don't really know how to get the girls to leave my DD alone. I didn't sleep last night for worry and I feel so so angry too. My faith teaches me to turn the other cheek but it's so hard when I want to throttle the little darlings. End of rant.

My weigh in didn't go well as I'd put on a pound and a half  so I felt vey glum indeed. I was expecting it but I still hoped for a loss. Nevermind, onward and upward, I should get a good loss next week. I forgo the pie and chips on offer last night and just had a ham sandwich so that should help :D Not sure what to make for dinner tonight. DD13 is making a risotto in school which should feed her and her sisters so it's just me and hubby. I have some leftover lamb so I'll probably make a little shepherds pie just for the two of us,

Anyway, that's all for now folks. Take care and as always, gentle hugs for all who would like one.
    Cheers m'dears x

Oh the poor little thing, I would be on the phone this morning to the head teacher and telling them that unless this stops you will be keeping your dd off of school untill it does, (I done this with my dd, although I actually went into the school and met the head teacher) I would also tell the head that your DD told a teacher and nothing was done, its dreadful that she has some home with burns, bless her, give her a hug from me xx

    Morning all,

No rain here yet but due heavy rain later on, off to work for me need to drop dd at the station for uni, she was voted student rep for her class yesterday :T, Molly I am glad your DD seems to be settling more.

My mum has gone into hostital today fopr a hip replacement, she was very nervous, and my dad had been poorly so I will go and see him tonight, (mum was more worried over him than over the op)

    Morning everyone,

Dumpling Hugs for you and your DD. I agree with Redruby, get straight on the phone to the headteacher this morning.

HH Sounds like things are getting better.

LW Hope that they get you some more furry visitors soon.

    Molly, Hilstep Hugs.

Redruby Hugs for you and for your mum.

Another open evening at school tonight, this time for next years sixth form. Should be a good, if late, evening. DD1 wants to come along as she is considering moving to my school for sixth form.

Tea tonight is leftovers and chips!

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

Dumpling - Don't phone, go in and demand that something is done. The other girls' parents need to be told and if they are hurting her physically you should tell them that you will get the police involved. I would also phone the local authority and try to arrange a meeting with the head of education, the head teacher and yourself.

Don't let this awful situation go any further. Hugs to you and your DD.

    Morning,

Dumpling, see the head teacher and find out what they have to say. I'd also be inclined to send a letter to the Governors listing the things that have happened and the action taken/not taken. Send a copy to the LEA for their records.

No rain here today (so far) and it feels quite mild too.
Not much planned for today, work later and supposed to be going to Yoga tonight but I have a nasty cold so I'll see how my head feels later.

Camelot - It did it to me yesterday, I had to go back and check I hadn't posted twice!

    Enjoy your day all!
