Walking the dog the other night I saw someone's tv with the most fantastic lights behind it - multi coloured led variety I guess. Made the room look very cool.
Can anyone tell me how I can get them or do you have to buy a tv with them ?
Any advice / info would be much appreciated !!

Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.

I think what you are referring to is the Philips ambilight system. It comes as part of certain Philips TVs.

Could this be an excuse to drag out the old xmas lights a bit early ... dangle some of those behind your TV?0

You stick the LED strips or bars to the back of the TV. Ikea have LED strips which you can select your colour. I use Apollo LED ambient lighting bars which come with a remote. Not sure where you get them now as several years old. Have a look on Avforums.com or ask there, as that's where I found the Apollo kit.0

Have a look at www.visualchillout.co.uk No connection to me, other than I've been thinking along the same lines. Wouldn't suit everyone, of course, but it doesn't have to, just us! Haven't seen a setup, but pics look good.0

Do you want something like Philips system. If so there are systems out there but usually need a fair bit of processing power. Most use pc/rasberrypi to do the work.0

You can use these

I've got a couple of sets (don't think from that particular seller though) in a lizard viv and a snake viv. I just use them for daylight (white) and night (dimmed blue) but they have multiple colours and can be dimmed by the remote control0 -
