Aldi Amaretto for £4.99 50cl

Josef Meier's Herbal Liqueur is supposed to be like Jagermeister and £12 in Asda 70cl

    Make your own ...

    ISLE OF ISLAY CREAM

    Makes approx. 1 litre

    INGREDIENTS

    400g tin of condensed milk
    170g tin of evaporated milk
    300ml carton of single cream
    250ml of Scotch whisky
    4 teaspoons of coffee essence

    METHOD

Pour the milk and cream into a 1 litre jug or bowl.

Add the whisky and coffee essence.

    Stir together.

Pour into a clean 1 litre bottle.

    ADDITIONS & ALTERNATIVES

Adjust the amount of coffee essence to taste.

The original recipe specified UHT long-life single cream, but this can now be difficult to find. Use normal single cream instead.

Don’t use your best single malt for this. Any cheap supermarket own-brand blend will do.

    TIPS

Use the whisky to wash out the milk and cream containers, then add it to the bowl.

This will keep in the fridge. However, I don't know how long it will keep for: it’s never stayed around long enough to go off.
If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5? :)

Lidl's rip off Baileys is nicer than Baileys, IMO. Only costs £4 per bottle too.

The Jack Daniels ripoff is tolerable if you're adding mixers anyway, but I couldn't sip it neat. Gives you a bad hangover too - worse than the branded one.
Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

    Depends on intended usage.
Cloned drinks - your mileage may vary and after the first hour, who'll know anyway?
"Ingredient" drinks like vodka in fruit vodkas - buy at Aldi & enjoy them as an ingredient...

Whats stopping Baileys from just adding half a drop of whiskey or even blowing vapor over it & then stating Irish whisky added .as RIP off food is showing ,these companies are willing to flaunt the laws & can get away with it legally .Its up to customers to take a stand

Aldi's amaretto is incredible, much nicer than the proper stuff I think

DO NOT DRINK JOSEF!!! It's hideous and icky and gross and wrong on so many levels... Just don't do it!!

Aldi's peach schnapps isn't as good as Archers in my opinion, it's got more of a sharp taste

I find if I buy a cheaper own brand vodka, I put it through the water filter a few times this gets rid of some of the "cheaper taste" - then rinse the filter through a couple of times.

Peach Schapps - Iceland version - bit sharper in taste the the original but if your having it with a mixer doesnt taste to bad.

Iceland - version of malibu - for me I would say 8/10 compared to the normal malibu

Sainsburys - version of Baileys - really nice.

If I am making fruit/sweet/mint/choc vodkas I always use the cheapest base as the fruit or flavour over powers the cheapness.

Unfortunatly - most cheaper versions are that cheaper versions and dont taste as nice xx

I was wondering if anyone tried Aldi's amaretto. Thanks for that. Will be buying it once the bottle of Disorano, which is two-thirds - three quarters has gone.

My friend loves white rum and she does not like the Aldi version.

Tesco peach schnapps is just as nice as Archers, but it's only a few quid cheaper (about £8/9 compared to £12/£13)

Supermarket vodka is ok if it's still triple distilled, however the value version is vile!

Aldi's Ballycastle Irish Cream is lovely.

Still, for me you can't beat proper Baileys.
