Depends how much you wish to pay but the 1st generation Nexus7 can be had for £149

Tablets are cheaper, so would be better but the Samsung S3 you own is more than good enough to handle what you are looking for.

As this poster says, S3 is more than adequate to use for email and directions.

I guess people's idea of going on holiday is different now, used to be about getting away from it all, relaxing, seeing the sights and re-charging your battery. But i guess some people just can't be without there net lifeline anymore. (sounding old i guess)

the S3 is a great phone and to use for the internet its great but the screen is too small and that is why i am thinking of getting a tablet or even a laptop. thoughts please

getting away on holiday to relax is great and i dont think i am clued to my gadgets all the time so i can relax! but if i wanna do something or if i have a friend who i am going wants to borrow it to check there mail its easy they can. my friend doesnt have a laptop/tablet/smartphone so this is also why - just in case!

no im asking tablet or laptop? laptop are bulky so therefore i think tablet be better - so which 1 should i get?

Tis a good topic. I'm torn between netbook and tablet. Netbooks have an inbuilt stand and you don't really need an extra cover to protect the screen. They also run proper OSes (Windows). But instant on with a tablet is handy. And loads of free apps. Hence 2 years later, I still haven't made up my mind.
