mgdavid - I could get the €100 changed, just not the €200 x 2 or the €500.
His UK bank will do it for him next time he's back in the country so we'll do it that way.

I reckon you will get asked a lot of questions if you walk into a UK bank to deposit 1K euros in used notes. Probably the same, or worse, in a currency exchange. Even more so if they are new notes.
I remember once being behind a woman in a queue at a bureau de change. She was changing back USD€3000 that she said was left over from her holiday in the States.
I was speechless that she could bring back €3000 - how much did she take in the first place?! The cashier though never batted an eyelid and just changed it back.0 -
