ESTA to get into the USA

If only we had some sort of place we could go for this kind of thing. Some sort of "office" for foreign issues, perhaps?

They could also have a website, like this one? That'd be brilliant.....

Interesting - I thought visas (by that name) went back to the 1920s and immigration restrictions before that. Though short term visitors who met certain attributes (of which at one stage being white was one) may have been exempt

I'm pretty sure I needed a visa in 1975 but it was arranged for me so I don't recall the details.

Any special reason you didn't need one? Or did it just happen that way?
